On August 18th 2022, Allison Russell re-released a new version of her 2019 song You’re Not Alone via Bandcamp, this time featuring Brandi Carlile in duet.
The song first featured on the Our Native Daughters debut album. (Our Native Daughters features, Rhiannon Giddens, Amythyst Kiah, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell)
All proceeds from the Bandcamp sales went to Brandi Carlile’s Looking Out Foundation supporting Looking Out Foundation’s Every Town For Gun Safety Support Fund and The Fight For Reproductive Justice Campaign.
Allison Russell is part of the self termed #rainbowcollective, a musical movement founded in basic principles of women lifting other women up and bringing them along as they succeed. Brandi Carlile is central the movement, with Allison Russell crediting her with helping her out of povety during the pandemic by her support in securing Allison Russell a record deal for her hightly acclaimed debut album.
