In the liner notes to the album Sheryl Crow talks about the huge influence Kris Kristofferson had, and the imact of his Lyme disease impacting his ability to make memories. She says “As I reflected on the huge impact Kris’ art has had on me, I thought back to myself as a young girl, and the long journey my life had taken since those afternoons laying on the floor, listening to my sister’s records. I became inspired to record an album of musical experiences with legacy artists, ….”, “just importantly, I wanted to work with younger artists on this record, who I believe will pick up the torch and continue to light the way for humanity with their stories and their songs for many years to come.”

2. That 2019 version also appears on her 2022 soundtrack to the documentary “Sheryl: Music From The Feature Documentary”

3. In 2021 Sheryl Crow’s Live From The Ryman and More album featured a live version of this song with Brandi Carlile – although it was recorded at the Newport Folk Festival.
