The Starling movie, featuring Melissa McCarthy premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 12 2021, and was released on Netflix 12 days later.
Julia Michels (Grammy Award winner) supervised the soundtrack with a mix of original music by Benjamin Wallfisch, interspersed with sourced songs and original tracks. Michels is an experienced music supervisor for movies and won a grammy for A Star Is Born is 2020. A Star is Born, includes the song ‘Always Remember Us This Way” written by The Highwomen Natalie Hemby, as well as an acting performance by Brandi Carlile (singer on stage).
For The Starling, Brandi Carlile wrote an original song – The Last Time for the film and provided That Wasn’t Me for the end credits.
The Last Time track has not been released officially anywhere and as of 2023 can only be heard in the movie. It doesn’t feature on an official soundtrack.
However in 2021, a version of it was released as a Bramily only single around Christmas time. The Bramily only singles are released once per year to the membership club of the band. Only available to paying members of the official club.
