Released in 2021 “We Can Do Hard Things” is the very first single from Tish Melton, the daughter of Brandi and Catherine Carlile’s close friends, Glennon Doyle and Abby Wambach. She is oldest daughter of Glennon and her ex husband Craig Melton. The song is produced by Brandi Carlile, (and features her backing vocal and instrumentation) and is the title song for Glennon Doyle’s podcast We Can Do Hard Things.
The association came about during the pandemic, as Brandi tells it in an interview from that time, that Catherine suggested she read Glennon’s books, and quickly reached out following. Glennon and Abby were also part of the mini vitural book tour sessions that were sold on Veeps for Brandi Carlile’s Broken Horses release in 2021. During one of those Glennon Doyle interviews Brandi Carlile, and ended the interview with Brandi inviting them to share a few songs. One of these included Tish singing We Can Do Hard Things – and it’s the first time it was heard.
Tish was also a special guest of Brandi Carlile’s at Girls Just Wanna Weekend 4 in January 2023, where she performed with a full band live for the first time.
Brandi Carlile is producing Tish Melton’s first EP, the first single of which Michelle – was released in September 2023.
